On Feb. 2, President Sue Hammersmith operated the torch in this year's Saint Paul Winter Carnival Torchlight Parade, presented by Metropolitan State University. Metropolitan State lead the parade from Lowertown along 5th Street to Rice Park, as a sponsoring partner in this historic event.
Since 1886, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival has been an integral part of the fabric of Saint Paul’s culture. The event draws around 350,000 people to the city over its two weeks of events and showcases the Greater Saint Paul community’s cultural depth with educational and cultural events and programming.
