Metropolitan State University elected to join the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) in 2003. AQIP is an alternative process through which Metropolitan State can maintain its accredited status with The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. AQIP's seven-year continuous improvement cycle replaces the comprehensive self-study and site visit that occurred every ten years. Reaffirmation of Accreditation is based on Metropolitan State's active participation in AQIP, on evidence of progress and improvement in the organization, and on evidence that the University continues to fulfill the Commission's Criteria for Accreditation.

Quality Checkup

Metropolitan State just completed a very successful Quality Checkup review. The Quality Checkup Team Report summarizes the findings of the AQIP peer reviewers from the March 25-27, 2009 visit.

Continuous Improvement Coordinating Team

The Continuous Improvement Coordinating Team (CICT) (previously known as the University Improvement Coordinating Team) has been charged to:

  • guide the continuing integration of improvement principles in the University's daily work;
  • utilize the AQIP framework to document and refine improvement efforts; and
  • coordinate efforts to demonstrate Metropolitan State's continuing compliance with Higher Learning Commission criteria to maintain our regional accreditation status.
