If a student has taken the GRE or GMAT within the past five years and received acceptable scores, or has an earned Ph.D., JD or MD, they will not be required to take the assessments. No other exemptions are granted for graduate students.

All other students entering the following College of Management graduate programs:

  • Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS),
  • Master of Public and Nonprofit Administration (MPNA) or
  • graduate certificate programs

are required to take Metropolitan State University's paper/pencil graduate diagnostic assessment exam in math and writing. See the schedule for specific times and make an appointment by either calling 651-793-1460 or sending an email to testing.center@metrostate.edu at least one day in advance.  A "permission to test" memo is required.

To be fully admitted to these programs, students must complete, with a grade of “B” or higher, any coursework required as a result of the assessment scores.

Requests for special accommodations should be directed to Disability Services at 651-793-1540 or 793-1539 (voice) or 772-7687 (TDD). Accommodation requests must be submitted at least one week prior to the intended assessment date.

To request accommodations for special needs other than disabilities, call Diagnostic Services at 651-793-1537 or email diagnostic.assessment@metrostate.edu. Accommodation requests must be submitted at least one week prior to the intended assessment date.

International Students

If you are currently living outside the United States and planning to pursue your studies here under an F-1 visa, then you must take either the GMAT or GRE exams and have those scores submitted to Metropolitan State University before we can consider your admission to graduate school. F-1 student visa’s are not issued for certificate programs.

If you have any questions, contact the College of Management Graduate Admissions Advisor at 612-659-7258.

To request accommodations for a disability, students call the Disability Services at 651-793-1540 or 651-772-7581 (TTY).
