Biography
Dr. Dharshini Goonetilleke (preferred pronouns: she/her) is a Counselor Educator and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Her research interests are to further understanding the application of mindfulness and indigenous healing practices and related challenges. She also conducts mindfulness training workshops for healthcare professionals, organizations, and community members. Goonetilleke also provides consultation services for implementing mindfulness programs and integrating mindfulness into an operating business or educational framework. She has proficiency in integrating mindfulness into her teaching pedagogy and incorporates a multicultural and social justice approach to teaching and clinical practice.
Goonetilleke is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and practiced as a mental health clinician in the community prior to joining the Metro State. In her clinical practice, she worked with clients of all ages and provided services as a generalist. She worked with individuals who experience symptoms of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral and developmental concerns, multicultural and cross-cultural concerns, career counseling, substance use disorders and survivors of unwanted sexual experiences. She utilized mindfulness based cognitive and behavioral approaches, mindfulness based therapeutic practices in her clinical work to enrich and enhance lifelong benefits of her clients.
