Welcome to MN Cyber Institute, a statewide initiative that provides quality education, innovative public/private partnerships, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement. The institute also serves as the center for cybersecurity at Metro State University.

Make Minnesota a national leader in cybersecurity through education, innovative public/private partnerships, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement.

Goals

The Executive Director and Sponsors have formalized the following set of goals:

  • Enhance Minnesota’s cybersecurity workforce
  • Foster cybersecurity education and research at all levels
  • Act as a cybersecurity clearinghouse and resource for the entire state
  • Attract new financial, healthcare, transportation, and technology companies to Minnesota

Metro State University is designated as the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

Metropolitan State University was one of the first institutions in Minnesota to earn this distinction awarded by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). NCAE-CD institutions receive formal recognition from the U.S. Government as well as opportunities for prestige and publicity for their role in securing our nation's information systems. The cybersecurity programs and its curriculum at Metro State conforms to NSA requirements for maintaining the CAE-CD designation.
