Biography

Josefina Landrieu, PhD serves as the Vice President of Equity and Inclusion. As the vice president she provides leadership related to the university’s strategic goal of operationalizing equity, inclusion and anti-racism principles throughout the university to improve student and employee success. She also investigates or oversees investigations of complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and in partnership with Human Resources develops, implements, and monitors strategies to improve recruitment, retention, and inclusion of diverse employees.

Prior to joining Metropolitan State University, Josefina served as the Assistant Chief Diversity Officer for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities where she provided leadership and support to advance the review of policies, procedures, and processes impacting inclusion and equity throughout the Minnesota State system as well as expertise and consultation for complex diversity and inclusion issues. Before joining Minnesota State, Dr. Landrieu was in a state-wide role as Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Center for Youth Development. Her work and scholarship strive to ensure positive learning environments for students in higher education. As an innovative, creative problem solver and change leader Dr. Landrieu is focused on the changes needed in organizational structures, policies and culture in order to serve an ever changing student body.

Dr. Landrieu has a BA in political science and international relations from the University of Northern Iowa, and an MA and PhD in organizational leadership and policy development from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
