Biography
Dr. Leguizamon Grant teaches the foundational course in the minor in Community Organizing and Development—Perspectives on Community Development in the Social Sciences Department. This course can be taken for 4 credits in either political science or sociology. He is a social innovator and transformative organizer that has created an eco-industrial park, a community development credit, a statewide individual development account program, the first certified passive house in California, 40 units of affordable housing, and several business ventures and social enterprises. He has been community faculty at Metro State University since 1990.
In addition to his role at Metro State, Sam is the executive director of a national social justice research and evaluation firm, and founder and coop manager of an international worker coop—Embody Deep Democracy. He is a published author and currently working as coeditor on a book to be published by Bloomsbury on Global South Resistances, Alternatives, and Mutual Solutions to the Global Ecological Crisis.
