Major job duties

  • Manage and maintain the Digital Media Lab (DML) and the Digital Media Annex (DMA) open lab hours.
  • Manage the checkout of equipment through the Bookings system such as digital cameras, digital cutters, digital drawing tablets and filmmaking equipment. This includes sanitizing all equipment before and after checkout and clearing out data on SD cards.
  • Report promptly to the appropriate faculty when equipment is broken, parts are missingand/or when a student does not comply with the check-in time.
  • Help students with software needs such as: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom and other softwareutilized in digitalarts and film classes.
  • Keep inventory of classroom consumables at the beginning and end of each semester. Monitor must place order requests with the faculty supervisor when consumables are running low. This includes ink for printers, filament for the 3D printers and other supplies.
  • Manage the photo printers for classroom projectsonly.
  • Develop troubleshooting instruction manuals on technologies (and signage) for student use and/or checkoutforms.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness including sanitizing the working spaces.
  • Assist faculty with various classroom needs in the DML and DMA.
  • Maintain security of the classroom when leaving for the day; ensuring select technologies are put away, cabinets are locked, and doors are secure.

Qualifications and experience

  • Must be fully admitted and continuously enrolledat Metropolitan State University.
  • Familiarity and/or willingness to learn software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Tinkercad and some others.
  • Familiarity and/or willingness to learn hardware such as digital cameras, digital cutters, 3D printers and filmmaking equipment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that are available 20 hours a week.
