ECON 696 Managerial Economics and Strategy

This course focuses on the application of economic analysis to enterprise decision making. The basic topics include analysis of demand, costs, capitalization and strategy. The purpose is to apply economics to achieve long-run profit maximization. Students apply principles of modern strategy to real case studies.

  • Apply economic and strategic concepts to make or buy decisions.
  • Discuss the importance of economics of scale and scope, when they apply, and when they may not apply.
  • Apply economic concepts to the structure of contracts and compensation agreements.
  • Apply Porter¿s five forces analysis to real world organizations.
