NURS 409 Holistic Nursing Care of Women, Children, and Families

This course focuses on the holistic nursing care of pediatric, maternal-newborn, and family populations. Students will utilize principles of evidence-based practice, theory, and holism. Emphasis will be placed on assessment, health promotion, disease prevention, and management of alterations of health and wellness.

  • Apply Modeling/Role Modeling theory to the care of pediatric and maternal-newborn populations.
  • Utilize the nursing process and clinical judgment model to plan nursing care for pediatric and maternal-newborn populations from diverse backgrounds.
  • Apply theory and evidence using a holistic, family- centered, culturally-sensitive approach to care.
  • Articulate the value of self-care to promote resilience to stress and support health promotion.
