NURS 409L Nursing Care of Women, Children and Families Lab

This course builds on previous knowledge and skills in holistic patient care applied to the pediatric and maternal-newborn populations. Students will apply knowledge of theories to client and family-focused clinical situations and demonstrate specific psychomotor skills.

1 Undergraduate credit

Learning outcomes

General

  • Apply professional standards, nursing process and principles of evidence-based practice and clinical judgment to nursing care of children, families and women during childbearing.
  • Utilize clinical decision-making as the basis for providing safe, holistic, culturally-sensitive nursing care.
  • Safely perform select nursing procedures and interventions used in the pediatric and maternal-newborn care areas.
  • Apply Modeling/Role Modeling theory to simulated experiences focused on alterations in health and wellness for children, families, and women during childbearing.
