NURS 684 Interprofessional Care Collaboration
Students from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and social work collaboratively focus on the foundational knowledge of HIV prevention and care and develop the ability to work as a member of an interprofessional collaborative healthcare team. Learners explore options for involvement in HIV care as part of their healthcare career. The focus is on lifelong learning related to HIV care and interprofessional collaborative practice. Students will have a four-hour shadowing experience as part of the class.

General
- Describe the historical development and epidemiology of the HIV epidemic from a global and national perspective.
- Use a case-based approach to successfully assess and plan holistic care for a person/family with HIV as part of an interprofessional healthcare team.
- Describe the impact of interprofessional care and HIV care delivery models on the health outcomes for people living with HIV.
- Analyze current health policy issues related to HIV care provision and the role of the healthcare team in health policy advocacy.
