TCID 564G Foundations of Learner Experience Design

This course is designed to provide an introduction to Learner Experience Design, which brings together principles of design and learning to create effective interactive training and learning experiences. The course draws on fields such as instructional design, user experience design (UXD), and learning and development. Students learn concepts and techniques to prepare them to analyze learners and learning situations and to choose appropriate strategies in order to create interactive, engaging, and effective learning experiences

General

  • Describe basic principles of Learner Experience Design.
  • Implement these principles in planning interactive, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
  • Analyze learners and learning situations to design interactive, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
  • Understand usability and usability testing and recognize their importance and usefulness in any design process.
  • Make informed choices regarding the most appropriate tools for designing and delivering online learning experiences.
  • Create a sketch of a basic module for an application relevant to your own work or life context that demonstrates your understanding of Learner Experience Design principles and usability.
