As Women’s History Month comes to an end, let’s take a day to celebrate the women in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. Join us for a discussion with two women with connections to Minnesota State as they share their stories and reflect on the and vital roles of women past and present in our history.

Janet Lorenzo graduated from St. Catherine University with a master of social work in 2020. Janet is a military and veteran coordinator at Inver Hills Community College. Prior to working with veterans and military families, she served in the U.S Navy in the Gulf War supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. More recently, Lorenzo received the Veterans Voices Award from the Minnesota Humanities Center for her work within the community. Today, she is a service officer with the American Legion and a member of Governor Walz's Gambling Control Board.

Jeanine R. Jackson graduated from Metropolitan State University with a master of public and nonprofit administration in 2019. She works in the nonprofit sector to alleviate poverty and end homelessness in Minneapolis. She plans to further her ability to contribute to solving Indigenous and tribal issues through continuing in a related doctoral program and by learning her native language. She is an enrolled member of Lac Du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and serves as community faculty at Metro State where she teaches Contemporary Native American Issues for Nonprofits and
Government. Jackson works for Red Lake Tribe in Minnesota as their Urban Community Services developer for Ombimindwaa Gidinawemaaganinadog “uplifting all our relatives” and will continue her life's mission through this role. Her tribes are Ojibwe (enrolled), Potawatomi, and Cree.
