The Gordon Parks Gallery proudly presents

Student Salon

Part of the Gordon Parks Gallery series
Student Salon works: an image of a person on a yellow background wearing a blue mask over a red face, an individual with a crow's head wearing a white button down shirt, a dark cityscape drawn over a rough green-blue background, a young-looking woman drawn in anime style in bright blue and white clothing standing before a dark gray gradient

March 28–April 14

From paintings to sculptures and digital art to embroidery, the Student Salon surveys the diverse form and content explored in class and beyond. The annual exhibit at Metropolitan State University’s Gordon Parks Gallery features multimedia works produced by undergraduate students.

Visual artists include: Samara Adam, Minneapolis; Favour Adetona, Savage; Isaiah Flemister, Richfield; Avery Hunter, Minneapolis; Rio Karli, Saint Paul; Sam Kleinberger, Saint Paul; Tianna Price, Saint Paul; Kong Blia Thao, Saint Paul; Irina Vasilchenkov, Savage; Ntomoo Xiong, Saint Paul; and Pierre Young, Saint Paul.

“This year’s exhibition features work produced by 11 studio arts majors,” says Gordon Parks Gallery Director Erica Rasmussen. “Some of the work was created in the classroom as part of standard assignments. Other pieces were executed beyond the university as part of the students’ individual interests. Whatever the inspiration, it’s a pleasure for me to share the culmination of their artistic pursuits with the university community.”

The reception for this exhibit takes place Thursday, March 24, from 5:30–7 p.m. Details in News@Metro.

Due to COVID19 protocols, the gallery is not accessible to members of the greater community. For more information about the gallery or to visit the exhibition beyond the reception, please contact Rasmussen at 651.999.5942 or erica.rasmussen@metrostate.edu.
