Library and Learning Center
Gordon Parks Gallery
645 East Seventh Street, Saint Paul
From paintings to sculptures and digital art to prints, the “Student Salon” surveys the diverse form and content explored in class and beyond. The annual exhibit at Metropolitan State University’s Gordon Parks Gallery features multimedia works produced by undergraduate students.
Visual artists include: Leandre Bauswell, Minneapolis; Stephanie Chapel, Saint Paul; Mikayla Cohrs, Saint Paul; Gretchen Funk, Saint Paul; Terry Gallo, Saint Paul; Jerome McRoy, Brooklyn Park; Sandy Talbott, Saint Paul; and Hana Yonekawa, Saint Paul.
“This year’s exhibition features work produced by eight Studio Arts majors,” says Gordon Parks Gallery Director Erica Rasmussen. “Some of the work was created in the classroom as part of standard assignments. Other pieces were executed beyond the university as part of the students’ individual interests. Whatever the inspiration, it’s a pleasure for me to share the culmination of their artistic pursuits with the university community.”
The exhibit opens with a reception from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. The event will include poetry reading by creative writing students between 4:30 and 5:30p.m., and short films by screenwriting students between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in LIB 302. The show will continue through April 13. Gallery hours are 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The gallery is located on the third floor of the Library and Learning Center, 645 East Seventh Street, at the university’s Saint Paul Campus.
