Metro State Theater and Theater Underground present: (this is) the play

Metro State Theater presents “(this is) the play,” written and directed by Jonathan Beller. Peek behind the curtain into the wildly comedic and subversively offbeat world of (this is) the play, a meta-theatrical experiment that careens through a world of dramatic madness, creative chaos, and the actor's unending quest for authenticity. As four eccentric actors with more enthusiasm than sense blur the lines between reality and performance, they must confront the fragile boundaries between confidence and self-doubt, contend with the relentless inner critics threatening to derail them, and channel the unruly creative impulse that fuels their passion. But as the spotlight spirals out of control, they begin to wonder: does theatre hold a mirror to the world, or does it wield the power to reshape it, or is it somewhere in between? Part absurdist farce, part surrealistic romp, “(this is) the play” is a thrilling ride that will leave audiences questioning the fragility of ‘truth’—and the theater's desperate attempt to reveal it.
