Metropolitan State University celebrated its 98th Commencement Exercises Monday, May 2 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium at Saint Paul RiverCentre.
Surprising the awaiting students was Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who spoke at length on her own family’s experience and growth. Student speaker Michael Shyne, summa cum laude, College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Student, graduated with a degree in applied mathematics.
The spring commencement will be the last for Interim President Devinder Malhotra. Provost Ginny Arthur is the president designate and will take up the position when Pres. Malhotra steps down from the position June 30.
Approximately 876 students are received bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees this May.
