Faculty Honors and Awards
- Dr. James Densley, UK Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award. James received the “Points of Light” Award from Prime Minister Theresa May for co-founding the charity “Growing Against Violence.” www.pointsoflight.gov.uk/growing-against-violence
- Drs. Lesli Blair, Roberta Gibbons, Raj Sethuraju and Walter Wysopal, The “Evidence-Based Practices in Corrections” certificate program developed in CCSPA last year was selected for the Public Safety Award by the National Association of Counties. The certificate will be conferred at Metropolitan State in Fall 2018.
- Prof. James Byrne, 2017 Hollywood Verge Film Awards “Best Screenplay” award for “Things to Do Before Leaving.”
- Prof. Erica Spitzer Rasmussen, Minnesota Book Award. The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library announced Rasmussen as the winner of the 2018 Minnesota Book Artist Award for her work, “The Love Affair.” Sponsored by Lerner Publishing Group, this annual award is presented as part of the Minnesota Book Awards, with the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA), and recognizes a Minnesota book artist or book artist collaborative group for excellence of a new artistic work.

- Dr. Brian Goodroad, 2018 Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP)
- Dr. Nicholas D. Hartlep, whose book, “The Neoliberal Agenda and the Student Debt Crisis in U.S. Higher Education,” was nominated for a Grawemeyer Award in Education. The book received the 2018 Society of Professors of Education Outstanding Book Award from the Society of Professors of Education. Recipient of the 2018 John Saltmarsh Award for Emerging Leaders in Civic Engagement. The award is given in recognition of exemplary early-career leaders who are advancing the wider civic engagement movement through higher education to build a broader public culture of democracy.
