Andrew Edwards of Minneapolis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and was selected as the President’s Outstanding Student award recipient for the university’s School of Urban Education. He was one of 1,302 students receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Metropolitan State this semester. Edwards was one of 583 graduates participating in the university’s 103rdcommencement exercises on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
“Drew is the embodiment of the School of Urban Education’s mission and why we exist,” said Dr. Paul Spies, professor in the School of Urban Education. “He is a community organizer, mediator, and activist. His commitment to equity and social justice is deep and unwavering for anyone and any community.”
