On March 20, Metro State Cyber Clinic had the privilege of hosting Jen VanDemmeltraadt, deputy chief information security officer (CISO) and enterprise security director for Minnesota IT Services, for an insightful guest speaker session on “For Government: Enterprise Information Security Policies & Standards.”

The session drew strong attendance from cybersecurity students and faculty alike. VanDemmeltraadt shared her deep expertise on developing and managing statewide security policies, highlighting the importance of identity, credential, and access management (ICAM) in modern government cybersecurity frameworks.

Students engaged with thoughtful questions, sparking lively discussion about real-world applications of security standards and the challenges of securing public-sector systems. VanDemmeltraadt’s visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect classroom concepts to practical, high-level work in the field.
