Today, I accompanied a team of Metro State University Cyber Clinic Students (Mohamed A. Mohamed, Phoenix Bloksberg, and William Lee) to lead a Basic Cybersecurity Training session for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) organized by the Elko New Market Chamber of Commerce. We were thrilled to engage with such an enthusiastic group of business owners eager to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses.
The turnout was good, and the engagement level was through the roof! Participants came armed with insightful questions and a genuine eagerness to learn, which made for a dynamic and productive session. It was not only educational but also a lot of fun to interact with our local business community and see their commitment to protecting their operations.
We covered essential topics like password management, the importance of regular software updates, backups, and strategies for identifying phishing attempts. The audience's active participation and feedback highlighted the critical need for cybersecurity awareness at all business levels, especially in our vulnerable SMB sector.
Thank you to the Elko New Market Chamber of Commerce for organizing this event and all the attendees who made it a great success. Remember, a small step in cybersecurity is a giant leap in securing your business! We look forward to more such events and continuing to support our community in building a safer digital world.
