Metro State University student Phoenix Bloksberg has been named the Visionary Leadership Awards’ 2024 Visionary Student for the 14th Annual Cyber Security Summit, which was held in Minneapolis on October 29. The Visionary Student Award goes to a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and/or contributions.
In addition to Bloksberg's award, Metro State alumni Chris Luhman, Minnesota IT Services information security director, and Zinet Kemal, Best Buy cloud security engineer were also honored. Luhman received the Visionary Application Security Leader award, and Kemal received the Visionary Community Leader award.
"Metro State University has become one of the elite cyber schools in Minnesota," said Professor Faisal Kaleem. " It was an honor to present how we are preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals through our innovative programming, research opportunities, and advanced technical infrastructure designed to tackle today's cyber challenges."
The Cyber Security Summit, hosted by Red Sift, is the original global cyber security event. The Summit was established by founding partners Eileen Manning of The Event Group and the University of Minnesota Technological Leadership Insititute. The Visionary Leadership Awards, also known as The Morries™, after Robert Tappan Morris, celebrate visionary leaders in nine categories of academic, industry, and government professionals and students.
