Wayzata High School and Metro Schools College Prep Students Explore Cybersecurity at Metro State

On April 9, a group of 50 students from Wayzata High School and Metro Schools College Prep visited Metro State University for an exciting day of exploration and hands-on learning in cybersecurity. During their visit, students participated in several interactive activities led by current Cyber Clinic students, including TryHackMe challenges, ONSET simulations, and even a lock-picking station—an engaging introduction to physical security concepts. The group also toured the Metro Cyber Center, which is currently under construction, offering a glimpse into the university’s growing investment in cutting-edge cyber education.

The event served as a powerful demonstration of Metro State’s applied learning model and the unique opportunities offered through its Cybersecurity program, giving prospective students a firsthand look at the university’s innovative and practical approach to cybersecurity education. Many visiting students expressed a strong interest in joining the program, Inspired by the university’s dynamic learning environment, exceptional opportunities, and the passion of its students and faculty. With a growing reputation as a regional leader in cybersecurity education, Metro State continues to prepare the next generation of cyber professionals through a blend of innovation, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
