What is College Possible Catalyze at Metro State?

Metro State is a partner of College Possible in offering near-peer coaching support to students through its Catalyze program. Metro State’s dedicated near-peer coaches, who are AmeriCorps service members, guide and support students on their path through the university. If you have been assigned a coach after transferring to Metro State, you will hear from your dedicated coach regularly, and they welcome your questions and would love to hear from you at any time.

At Metro State, a student who is not assigned a coach may be eligible to opt-in to the program or be referred by an advisor, a faculty member, a tutor, or another employee of the university. Students interested in a coach or learning more information about eligibility, please complete this form (link).

What is a College Possible Catalyze Success Coach?

Coaches are near-peer mentors that have recently graduated from Metro State or another Minnesota State University or other higher ed institution in the state and they are part of the AmeriCorps service leadership program. Their main purpose is to help you graduate from Metro State with a degree. They can advocate for you and help you with many problems you might encounter while a student. If things are going well, they can help you amplify that positivity. They are great resources for time management approaches, connecting you with campus (and non-campus) resources, financial aid and financial literacy, juggling your many commitments, and much more.

How can I become a Catalyze Success Coach at Metro State?

We are glad you are interested in joining us as a success coach at Metro State! As a success coach, you would serve as an AmeriCorps member through College Possible, a Saint Paul-based, nationally recognized nonprofit that supports college retention and graduation. As a near-peer mentor, success coaches support a diverse group of students in earning their bachelor’s degree from Metro State.

We are looking for applicants who have recently earned a 4-year degree. Ideal applicants will have demonstrated leadership skills, academic achievement, and a commitment to supporting students.
